The CIA Bakery Café reopens at the Pearl on Monday, January 28 to offer sweet and savory pastries, breakfast and lunch items. Located inside Savor, a new CIA restaurant staffed by culinary and pastry students, the cafe will open for weekday meals before closing for dinner service.
If, like me, you've missed the cafe's alfajores
— a shortbread cookie filled with dulce de leche made throughout Latin America — you'll find them waiting with those and other classic pastries on display. Breakfast at the cafe will include a fresh nitro brew coffee and items like brioche French toast and pressed egg sandwiches with spinach, mushrooms, gruyere and prosciutto. The lunch menu will feature a variety of soup, salad and plate options including fried chicken Cubanos or potato gnocchi with mushroom ragu.
The bakery will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. through April 11 for takeaway orders. Diners are invited to dine at the cafe between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
