Wanna open for this guy?

This message is for everyone, but especially for those SA bands with a strong Latin root in its sound: you still have a few days to register for Dewar’s Dewaristas con Juanes: The Search for the Next Great Latin Sound contest, which will give winners a September opening slot for Juanes in Miami and a grand prize of "approximate $2,500 retail value per band member," according to the official rules (yes... $2,500 per band member, as was wrongly published on this blog, was too good to be true).

This is how it works: you submit a song by your band of two to eight members (between two and five minutes in length), and the top three bands (chosen by a panel of judges) will compete on a regional showcase (the SA regional is July 17 at Club Rio, 13307-A San Pedro HWY 281). Then, Juanes himself and the judges will rate the top three bands in each regional, the winning regional band goes to a national online poll, and Juanes and the judges will pick one out of the top three. That winning band will open for Juanes at a private event to be held in Miami in September, with all travel expenses paid.

So hurry: you have until June 7 to submit. Regional semifinalists will be notified around June 21.
