Reflektor, the new album by Arcade Fire, comes out October 29, but you (almost) don't have to wait that long: here's the official near 90-minute album teaser, set against the images of Marcel Camus' Black Orpheus, 1960 Oscar winner for Best Foreign Film. Even though the film is a modern retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth set in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the band said it owes much of the new album sound to Haiti, the album being a "mash up of Studio 54 and Haitian voodoo," in the words of frontman Win Butler. The album was produced by Marcus Dravs and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy.
I'm listening as I write and I like what I hear, but it must be the weirdest "teaser" ever made (it doesn't sound like song snippets to me). What do you think? Here it is:
