Steve Silbas and Barbara Wolfe
The December 9 passing of former Casbeers and San Anto Café & Concerts Barbara Wolfe, was deeply felt in our music community. She died of cancer at age 53. Tomorrow, December 22 at 3 p.m., a benefit will be held at the new Big Bob’s Burger location. Look for the event’s page as Barbara Wolfe/Steve Silbas Benefit.
“Barbara had been working for Bob at the Hildebrand location,” says the FB event page. “Bob and his staff are graciously donating 100 percent of the day to the cause
[Barbara’s widower and Casbeers/San Anto co-owner Steve] Silbas has been on the kidney transplant list for quite a while and Barbara was his caretaker. He needs the help badly. These are two people who treated musicians like humans at Casbeers. Every band always got paid, even when the club lost money. The San Antonio music scene needs to step up on this one.”
There will be free parking across Houston St. and the cover charge is $20 for everybody, including bands, fans and even kitchen staff, all of which are working for free. All proceeds go Silbas to help with his own medical expenses and those related to Wolfe’s passing. Many locals who played at Casbeers are expected to perform, including Butch Morgan, Ruben V, and Los # 3 Dinners. If you can’t attend, you can donate here.
