It's free agent season and San Antonio label Texas Is Funny is certainly in the spirit, signing SA punk quintet Blithe to their roster of heavy rock 'n' roll. Having made their debut in February, Blithe has been one of the most thrilling names posted to bills around town. At a recent show at Paper Tiger, frontman Ryan Ward flailed on the ground, singing into the mic on the cement and absorbing a heavy dose of floorsweat and dirt (or maybe he was taking shelter from the exceptionally loud room).

At their San Antonio shows, Blithe has been hocking their False Sense of Entitlement EP, a five-cut deed of stop-start grooves and untethered energy. But for audiences outside the loop, Texas Is Funny will release the EP on July 28.

Blithe kicks off their summer tour on Friday at the Ten Eleven at 9pm. For five bills, catch Hypersleep, The Oblio's, Spokesmodel and the quintet themselves for a boozy, loud farewell.
