Some of the most captivating performers in San Antonio are calling it quits. Nick Long and Travis Hild, gigging together as Lonely Horse, announced on Labor Day that the duo will take a hiatus after fulfilling already announced dates, plus a last hurrah in December.

It's been quite a run for the dark folk duo. After a few years putting in enthralling, near-spiritual performances, Long and Hild trudged their way through a national battle of the bands to make it onto the 2014 bill for Afropunk Festival in Brooklyn. This year, Lonely Horse capped off their career with a lush debut of a record, Desert Sons.

From the announcement on Facebook:

This love of what we do has also found us in precarious situations, which have left us pretty beat and worn down. We have become slaves to this situation, manipulated and abashed. I started writing music at a young age because i knew the gift i had of creating sounds was to be used for the healing of myself and any man or woman who would listen. I promised to always honor that gift. So i will and my brother Travis. We will be finishing out the rest of this years shows including an October tour and Showcases during CMJ awesome interviews and documentative pieces, and will have a final show in December before we take hiatus to build and army of warriors to free this Horse.
