In celebration of their one year anniversary, Paper Tiger, the venue that has given San Antonio an opportunity to witness some of the best bands of the last 40 years and avoid making the trip up 35 to the increasingly white, yuppie enclave of total "weirdness," has announced their birthday show lineup ... and it's a mother.
Headliners include syrupy, sibling art-folkers CocoRosie, Detroit's master philoso-punkers Protomartyr, the perfectly-titled Fat White Family, Guerilla Toss, Pure Bathing Culture, Lust For Youth, Methyl Ethel, Boan, Inhalt, Samantha Glass and locals Filthy, Moze Pray and Ellis Redon.
Update: Due to visa issues, Fat White Family will not be playing the Heatwave show. However, Prayers, the cholo goth group, have been added to the bill.
Thanks Paper Tiger for the past year, and happy birthday! I promise to have all the fun for you, all the fun that an inanimate brick building can't have because it's a building, not a boy, like me.
Below is a video of the Courtney Love show at Paper Tiger at which the bully that is the woman who very possibly had a hand in killing Kurt Cobain (yes, I said it), calls out Current contributor Shannon Sweet. You did it, Shannon. Immortality!
