Despite a Mediamass report that the new wave electro-funk group have committed "as many as eight songs ... to tape" and are working on a worldwide tour, drummer Chris Frantz and guitarist Jerry Harrison were quick to disregard the recent rumors.

In an email response to BlastEcho, Harrison stated bluntly, "The rumor is false." Frantz, who is married to the Heads' bassist Tina Weymouth, has been in side project Tom Tom Club with Weymouth since 1977 and has legendarily been at odds with frontman David Byrne since the group's disbanding in 1991, stated via text, “The rumor is false.” He later added “I wish it were true. It should be happening but David [Byrne] is holding out.”

With their intellectual leanings and thoughtful, media savvy history, Talking Heads very well could, and would, be one of those bands that release statement after statement denying the chance of a collaboration in the near future ... and then do just that, i.e. stop making sense. However, with their tempestuous relationship, chances are Frantz and Harrison are telling the truth.

Sorry, Heads fans. Put the over-sized suits back in the closet ... for now.
