Have you ever been curious to hear someone unpack the subtleties and layers of early Houston rap? Maybe you’re wondering how to get your great grandfather’s collection of 78rpm records collecting dust at your parent’s house into your iTunes. Well, the 51st annual Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC) conference wants to school you on both.
Starting Wednesday and ending on Saturday, May 13, the ARSC conference will be held downtown at the Menger Hotel. The nonprofit, which was established in 1966, is dedicated to the preservation and study of sound recordings, with members including record collectors, discographers, and audio engineers, along with librarians, curators, archivists, and other researchers.
