Alongside the St. Mary’s Strip’s Hi-Tones, Faust, and the ever-missed Phantom Room is another Danny Delgado and crew establishment, La Botanica. Perhaps the queerest bar on N. St. Mary’s, La Botanica has done their best to provide a curandera-themed vegan restaurant and drinkery for ALL San Antonians, and their history of empowering, eclectic shows, their dedication to being a safe space for the marginalized and their outspoken support of progressive politics has cemented its place as one of the most inclusive, fun and exciting night spots in the city. Saturday’s showcase will be no exception as their patio hosts the “dance/electronica” lineup of this year’s showcase.

Included on the bill are former SA residents Calico Club whose depression-disco borrows a page from the noir-pop of acts like Chromatics, Desire, Kavinsky and Glass Candy – perfect for the soundtrack of Drive 2. Or come show your support for the duo of PleasureFaces and Galacticat (SA transplants who now call Corpus home) and share a little hometown love, which is just what the DJ ordered post-Hurricane Harvey.

Also on the bill is Dolphin Dilemma, the one-man dance band that consists of Verisimilitude’s Zachariah Applebaum, whose knack for catchy instrumental riffs is on grand display with his side project for his softer side. Pink Leche, no stranger to the dance floor, will also be making an appearance with his brand of booty-bass that’s so carefree and rhythmically infectious it could be considered the San Anto equivalent of The Big Easy’s Big Freedia and her world-renowned bounce. Last but not least is SA alum and musical pack rat Marcus Rubio, whose most recent act More Eaze seemingly blends every type of music and sound imaginable with, well, everything else. Just when you think you’ve got him figured out – “Oh, it’s an Ives-inspired piece for clarinet” – you’re confronted with tape loops and experimentation that somehow merges electronic blips, belches and beats with Rhapsody in Blue.
