Oh shit. Godpseed! You Black Emperor is coming to San Antonio on Saturday, December 16 at Paper Tiger.
For folks who don’t know, Godspeed! You Black Emperor (Godspeed for short), got big in the mid-to-late '90s for their haunting, epic 20+ minute movements that showed up in films like, 28 Days Later (which arguably has the most beautiful cinematography of any zombie movie ever).
Your uber indie music friend most likely had 2000s Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To The Heaven in a binder of burnt CDs next to artists like Mogwai, Mono and A Silver Mt. Zion – bands that would help lead the post-rock movement in a darker direction, in contrast to bands like Explosions in the Sky and Sigur Rós.
What is hopefully one of many Day For Night spillover shows to happen in San Antonio, Godspeed’s upcoming show at Paper Tiger is something fans of obscure indie music should be stoked for.
