Formed in 1998 in Washington, D.C. from the remnants of other local bands The Impossible Five and Colour, Dead Meadow combined ’70s heavy metal with ’60s psychedelic rock and explored themes found in the writings by J.R.R. Tolkien and H.P. Lovecraft. Their music is heavy, echoey and probably some of the best psychedelic rock out there, which is sort of saying a lot considering there are a million psych-rock bands in the industry.

The D.C. band will be joined by local San Antonio psychedelic rockers True Indigo, who have been making a name for themselves in the region the last couple of years.

$12, Tue March 6, 7pm, Period Modern, 4347 McCullough Ave., (210) 902-1217, facebook.com/k23gallery.
