Fans of sweaty, bluesy garage rock with a punk soul and an Americana heart will have plenty to rejoice in with this show. Hailing from Whitney, Texas, Lincoln Durham is an ace fiddler, a fine blues guitarist and a one-man-band/singer-songwriter who conjures a furious and explosive blues rock sound— like a Jack White but with more darkness and deadpan, less cheek and bluster. He’s an absolute treat to experience live.
For a good intro to Durham’s work, check out his most recent album, released in March, And Into Heaven Came the Night. ATX’s the Ghost Wolves, with a generous and far-flung sound that incorporates Americana, blues, and garage-rock into an overall pop-punk vibe, pairs well with Durham. Both acts harness the propulsive nature of blues rock in different ways and to different effect.
