Today in your WTF news, former Texas Monthly columnist Kinky Friedman, who’s famous for things like running independently for Texas Governor in 2006 (receiving 12.6% of the vote) and touring with Bob Dylan in the mid-seventies with his country western music, has just announced a show here in San Antonio on Sunday, July 29.

Joined by Honky-Tonk revivalist Garrett T. Capps and SA Legend Santiago Jiménez Jr., Friedman will play Period Modern, the furniture store, which also acts as a venue to a rotating cast of indie outfits from across Texas.

For a chance to hear his songs like “My Shit’s Fucked Up” and “A Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis,” you'll want to hit this show up.

$20-$40, Sun Jul 29, 2pm, Period Modern, 4347 McCullough Ave, (210) 902-1217, periodmodern.com.
