When I say that Austin’s the Rocketboys are an indie rock band, I would like that overused phrase to mean something to you. I mean to say that they make indie rock music with that particularly dramatic, deadpan and anthemic spirit that was so popular when the band formed a decade ago. The band’s music is lush, layered, harmony-rich and polished in a way that allows it to be precise in effect. It’s the kind of music that you might use a word like “shimmering” or “majestic” to describe.
Joining the Rocketboys on this solid bill of bands that excel at songcraft are Quiet Company (also from ATX) and Demitasse (local project from members of Buttercup), who make energetic indie pop-rock and spare, riveting, heartsick folk-pop, respectively.
