Indie DIY darlings Frankie Cosmos

Singer/songwriter Greta Kline got her start putting singles on Bandcamp when she was 16, releasing her self-titled debut in 2014 to critical acclaim.
Her music is fun yet simplistic, full of almost cliche abstractions about heartbreak, existential echo chambers, and dead dogs. However, it is bolstered by a poetically confessional streak, containing sentiments so strange and specific that just one line can pierce your heart while you’re lost in the sweet, almost childlike melodies.
Kline's calculated light-as-a-feather-stiff-as-a-board cadence is pleasantly distant enough that it forces the listener to connect with her pared down poems. On “Jesse,” a song from 2018 album Vessel
, Kline breezes through her most stinging lines without breath but you'll hang on her words, “I created a scorpion then had to kill it/just like I loved you then had to will it.” Like with so much of Kline's work, if you’re not listening you might miss it.
