Hailing from Corpus Christi, Latin Grammy-nominated producer/DJ El Dusty has made a name for himself crafting electronic, sample-based songs that are as eclectic as they are dance-floor ready. He’s in town this weekend to celebrate his latest album Cumbia City in a place that already adores him (and cumbias for that matter).

The album, which dropped back in May, has received heaps of critical praise for its engrossing kineticism, its innovative blending of live instrumentation/vocals with samples, and its genre-straddling bravado. Obviously heavy on the cumbia, the album also contains nods to El Dusty’s other influences, from hip-hop to tejano, from house to reggaetón, and much more.

This show will also feature sets from Cesar K-Oso, BrukOut and Bombasta.

$5, Sat July 14, 8pm, Paper Tiger, 2410 N. St. Mary’s St., papertigersatx.com.
