Arena-punk leather daddy Billy Idol is returning to San Antonio for a show at the Tobin Center as an extension of his Live! 2018 Tour Idol, and we’ve already got a pair of leather pants ready to wear to the show.

While the Sex Pistols sparked a near-riot here back in’78, Idol will most likely provoke the audience to dance with themselves, but there’s nothing wrong with embracing the corporate side of punk rock. Often abandoning the rebellious genre’s characteristic DIY ethics, Idol opted for crystal-clear production and catchy new-wave songwriting, resulting in his superstar status. And I mean, who can blame him for adopting the aesthetic? Who doesn’t like a little sparkle to balance out the grit? As a fashion icon, Idol rocked the spiked, frosted hair-do, snarl mastered-to-perfection and studded leather, all supported by his muscular body and chiseled features.

$59.50, Tue Sept 25, 7:30, Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, 100 Auditorium Circle, tobincenter.org.
