What else can really be said about the Reverend Horton Heat that we don’t already know? Fronted by Jim Heath, the Dallas-based psychobilly group have been creating a raucous in the rock ‘n’ roll community since their formation in ’86 and you sort of love ‘em or hate ‘em.

Our former music editor and local musician D.T. Buffkin, probably said it best in describing them:
“A true Americana band, the cosmic cooperation of Heath’s lightning-fast fingers and Wallace’s thunderclap bass slap has hypnotized audiences since their start in Dallas’ Deep Ellum neighborhood in the late 1980s. With skills and a hankering for fun matched by few, them Heat boys could teach, and have taught, modern rockers a thing or two about a thing or two. The sincerity of their delivery has secured them — through soundtracks, video games and guest appearances — an enviable spot as the psychobilly tramp stamp on the hearts of the urbane and tasteful, as well as the hick-ish and hayseed.”

The band returns to San Antonio on Tuesday, February 19 with Voodoo Glow Skulls, Big Sandy and Delta Bombers to play Paper Tiger. Oh and get this, tickets right now are just $5, so it might be a good idea to cop them sooner than later.
