The Animal Defense League of Texas, a no-kill shelter located 11300 Nacogdoches Road, has several dogs that are currently looking for a forever home. Check out the dogs that are currently available and just try saying no to adopting one of these cuties. It's basically impossible. All photos are courtesy of the Animal Defense League of Texas.

Betty
"When you hear the name Betty, what do you think of – Betty Crocker, the perfect homemaker? Betty Boop, the sexy but innocent flapper? Or Betty White, the rascally senior actress? I have a bit of all those in me. Even though I’m energetic, friendly and happy like Betty Boop, I’m well-behaved like Ms. Crocker. I doubt she was ever on a leash, but if she were, I’m sure she’d walk as nicely as I do. I’m not anywhere near senior status – I’m quite young, in fact – but I have a Betty White twinkle in my eye and I hope to be like her when I’m her age in dog years. I’d also like to be with you."
Poppa
"Yes, I have two eyes! I’m just so scruffy that only one eye was able to peer out from beneath my furry eyebrow in this photo. I was also having difficulty looking directly at the camera because I’m so very camera shy. However, I’m not only just camera shy, I’m incredibly shy in general. For this reason, I’m going to need a patient and special person in my life who will love me for who I am. I need someone that can spend quality time with me and show me that everything will be okay. Do you think you can be that person for me?"
Mia
"I am every bit as sweet as I look. I’m even-tempered and gentle, and my favorite thing to do is just hanging out with people. I have a lot of greyhound in me, and that makes people think I want to run and be very active, but the truth is greyhounds are major couch potatoes. I love going for walks, but nothing beats just hanging out with my human or canine best friends. Can you be my best friend?"
Midnight
"You see this head tilt I’m doing in my photo? That’s me trying to look adorable for you. I hope that it’s working! I’m in search for a forever home where I can be my goofy and lovable self. I am sweet, playful and friendly. Plus, I have a midnight black coat that makes me look beautiful! If you want a silly companion to cheer you up when you’re down and keep you company, then you should visit me!"
Beethoven
"The guy I am named after wrote a Symphony that is called “An Die Freude.” That means, “Ode to Joy” and I think that’s why the staff named me Beethoven. I am a joy to be around. I’m just a little over a year old but I’m mature beyond my year. I’m great around people, just calm and relaxed. I do like to play with toys. I’m not into going on long walks, but I would love to lounge around with you all day. Are you looking for a couch buddy?"
Bullwinkle
"I’m not sure if I’m a moose or just a bull in a china shop, the way my enthusiasm bubbles over when I’m out of my kennel. I’m a big guy and I’m just overflowing with love and joy, but I do calm down after a short while. But who can blame me for my boisterousness? I had a broken leg and had to have it in a metal contraption until it healed, and even now I’m still not allowed to run and play like I want to. But I love being around people, so it’s always a treat to get a visit and I will always greet you with a hug. I’ll wag my tail in a big circle to show how happy I am if you come for a visit."
Boomer
"I’m a big boy, but I’m sweet and gentle with adult people. What I really am is a big baby. I will even give you big kisses – at my size, that’s the only kind available. But I’m shy around dogs and cats, and children make me nervous. I’m quite smart – I’m good on the leash and I know the sit and down commands. I would love to go home with you and be your big bundle of love. If you have a quiet dog, I can deal with that."
Coco
"Don’t let my expression fool you, I’m a friendly girl. I can sometimes be shy but I’m generally energetic and happy. Don’t my floppy coco colored ears make me look cute? Just imagine these eyes waking you up with kisses and love! Come by and visit me today!"
Cooper
"Sure, gold and silver are nice, but I bet you can guess what I think is better. And once you meet me, you’ll agree. I’m not exactly soft and malleable like the metal – in fact, I’m pretty strong and active or my age – but I know how to be calm and well-behaved too. I just have a zest for life that shows in everything I do. Sometimes it shows as a kind of goofiness, like when I suddenly drop and roll over on my back, begging for a belly rub. I do need some special care because of a chronic kidney problem that requires medication, special food and keeping an eye out to make sure everything stays good. But I feel great and I sure would love to go home with you."
Crush
"You will have a crush on me when you meet me, because I am an adorable puppy who just wants to be loved. I’m big now and I’m going to get bigger, but you can get this big bundle of love for $20 as part of ADL’s Big Dog Go promotion. You’ll see how excited I am about it when you come by because I don’t sit still like this very often. I guess you could call me “joyful” or “playful” or maybe even “a maniac,” but I am definitely cute. I get along well with kids and other dogs and I am looking forward to starting my new life very soon."

Freeway
"Bet you can guess how I got my name. Yup, I was found on a freeway. Being a dog, without much of a memory, I don’t know if I ran away or was let loose or what, but there I was, on Loop 410, a pretty scary place for a smallish dog like me. Fortunately, a kind human rescued me and brought me here to find a forever home. I do love to run and play, but I’m quite calm and sweet when I’m visiting with people. I give nice kisses, and I seem to do well with children. All I want is another chance to be a family dog. I hope you’ll give it to me."
Luke
"I’m sure that you’ll instantly gravitate towards my welcoming personality. I’m affectionate, friendly, and playful. I’m all smiles when I’m around a crowd of folks. I get along with almost everyone such as kids and dogs. If you’re looking for a happy companion to be active with, then please give me a chance to impress you. Come by and visit me!"
Snape
"Every once in a while there comes a dog like me. A dog who needs a best friend in his life that has the patience to teach him that everything will be okay. I’ve had a rough time finding that special person who will take me into their home. I know that I already have the cuteness going for me with my beady eyes and scraggly hair, but it’s still been a struggle finding that special person. Even though I’m shy, I will still let you hold me close to you. I hope that I can learn to be as brave as Severus Snape from the Harry Potter stories. I just want a forever home where I can learn to relax and settle down with my true best friend."
Mick
"I may still be mostly a baby, but I’m a good dog already. I’m happy and outgoing. I know how to sit for a treat. I’m even-tempered and gentle. I love to cuddle up on the couch with you, and if you let me, I think sleeping with you is fantastic. I love walks and toys (I chew them up, but isn’t that what they’re for?), and if I had a yard and maybe some kids to play with, I’d be the happiest little guy in the world!"
Nazareth
"I’m a big boy, a little over 70 pounds! I’m people-friendly, dog-friendly, and overall friendly! Although, it would probably be best to keep me away from cats. I enjoy going for walks and exploring my surroundings. I am a strong boy on the leash, so hold on tight when we go for a walk. I like to roll over on my back and act silly. I know how to sit and I’m sure that I can learn more. I will bring lots of joy to my loving forever home. I can make you laugh, smile, and be goofy with you! I will make a loyal companion to my best friend and I hope that best friend can be you!"
