"Hi, I’m Gregory! I am a ball of fun! I love to play with every dog I meet and I smile for everyone. I will smother you in kisses and cuddles. It is recommended that I go to a home with no children. I love the attention! Please meet me and let’s go for a walk."
"A born leader I set the standard for American Stafford Terriers. I’m fun, friendly and well-behaved. I even sit for treats and I love attention. The only invading being done around here is me into your heart and I won’t surrender until you come get me!"
"Look into my eyes…you are getting sleepy…you will visit ADL…you will adopt me! Sometimes I may look like I’m plotting an evil plan but I promise, I’m not! The only plan I’m plotting is one to convince you to take me home with you. My other plan is to love you so that you can’t help but love me right back! Are those such evil plans? Come out and visit me! Give me that chance to test my abilities to scheme my way into your home forever. I promise, I’m a good kitty and I’ll be worth it!"
"Hi, I’m Bruiser! I enjoy going for walks and exploring the outdoors. I’ve recently learned that I also enjoy riding in cars too. I’ve been told that I’m sweet, and I’m sure you’ll agree after you meet me. I’m the type of dog that’ll lean on you and give you kisses on your cheek!"

"Such a sweet name – I must be a delicate little dog who enjoys sitting daintily on your lap while you sip tea, right? Wrong! I am little, but delicate? Not a chance! They call me “spunky,” which means I can’t sit still for a second. I want to be playing or kissing or rolling in the grass or chasing bugs or finding mischief. That’s what life’s all about! If I came to live with you, I’d bring my sense of joy with me and we would have a grand time together."
"Hi, I’m Pawsha! I’m a young gal and I have plenty of energy in me for playtime! I like to play with those cat toy wands that the humans around here sway in front of me. Those are fun! I have to admit, I like humans. They feed me and give me chin rubs. I look forward to finding my very own human that I can call my own! One that will love me forever! Would you like to be my human? Visit me and let’s find out how great we get along!"
"Hello hello, Maui is my name, and I got to say it is great that you’re reading about me. I am as friendly as can be and as welcoming as can be! I love hugs but then again who doesn’t love snuggly hugs. It will be the best time ever to have you come over so we can meet and get to know each other!"
"I’m going to wiggle it out when I meet you. I’m so happy that my body can’t stop wiggling and my tail can’t stop wagging. I really enjoy meeting new people. I just burst with enthusiasm. I’ll make my new family so happy because I’m just so joyful. I’m warning you that my enthusiasm is contagious. Oops, too late, I already infected you. Now the only cure is to come take me home today!"
“Hello, I am Ducky! I’m not the most social cat in the cattery, in fact, I’m very shy. I prefer to hang out in high places and people-watch from above. People often pass me up all the time but I can’t help being shy. I know there’s a special person out there for me who will love me just as I am and I’m patiently waiting for that person to come into my life. Do you think it can be you?”
"Lots of males lose their hair as they get older. It’s just that most of them are humans, not dogs. I don’t know how long I’ve been losing mine, but the vet says it’s hereditary. I don’t have any undercoat, and just some coarse white overcoat that doesn’t really cover my skin. So I have to be careful not to be out in the sun very much so I don’t get sunburned. I also have an eye condition that isn’t a problem right now thanks to medication, but it could cause sight problems later. But none of that gets me down. You should see how I love to run around on my leash! I’m frisky as can be. I would love to have a home where I can run around or lie on the couch all day, whichever suits my mood. If that sounds good to you, come see me – soon!"

"I need you today. Please come and give, without taking. I’m looking for my Manilow to write songs about me and love me! I am a little shy, but a kind, patient person could really bring me out of my shell. If you want someone to sing love songs to, I’m the perfect dog for you!"
Hi, I’m Disney. I was brought to ADL from Best Friends Animal Society who was working with ADL to transfer Hurricane Harvey pets into the shelter. Now I’m here and ready to find my forever home. I am a nervous kitty! Please go slow with me when we meet. I’m waiting for a special person who’ll give a shy kitty like me a chance to be loved forever. If you think you can be that special person for me, then please consider giving me a chance!
"When you come to my kennel, I’ll happily run to the door and greet you with wags and enthusiasm, overflowing with happiness and friendliness. But when staff takes me out to meet you, you’ll hardly recognize the shy, reluctant dog at the end of the leash. I don’t remember what happened before I came here, but I’m just so scared that it takes a long time for me to trust people. I don’t have an ounce of meanness in me – I just need someone with patience to wait for me to be ready to share my love. When that time comes, I enjoy cuddling and I’m as sweet as can be. If you have the time, the rewards are great – I promise!"
"I’m a very active boy and you won’t see me stay still for long. I like playing, and I enjoy dogs and kids over 12. I do have a problem with a disc in my back and that means I shouldn’t play rough or jump from high surfaces. But so far I haven’t had any trouble, and I plan to keep it that way. I would love to go home with you and be spoiled and loved."
"I love being in the company of humans! I also get along with other cats. I’m always ready for some pets, love and attention. I LOVE head rubs, back rubs, and snuggling. Now I just need to find a forever home where I can get plenty of that! Please visit me to see how sweet I can be!"
"I don’t want to hear no Lip about it, but I’m the best dog here! I’m one cool dude. Before I came to the Animal Defense League I injured my leg and I have a fracture that is healing well. I’ve got a lot to offer someone so you should come get me today before someone else does."
"No, I am not a bear, I’m just Lloyd the handsome chow chow mix. I was brought to ADL due to Hurricane Harvey and now I’m ready to find a forever home! My handsome bear-ish looks get me a lot of attention. Most people have the urge to give me a big ol’ hug because I look like a big cuddly bear, but please, take it easy with me! I am deaf and don’t have the best eye sight, so it’s very easy to startle me. I also prefer to not have my neck touched. It’s just not my thing! Since children like to hug, I prefer a home with no children. Overall, I am a friendly old man. I also enjoy slow strolls in the park and I like treats. I’m looking for a calm home where I can relax and be loved. I would probably be okay with a little dog sibling too, one who is as calm as me. Do you think you can be that special person for me? Then come by and visit me!"
"Hello, I’m Sarabi! I was found by a nice girl who brought me to ADL to look for my forever home. When I arrived, the people here in the hospital gave me a check up and found out that I had really bad teeth! My teeth were so bad that I had to have many teeth removed. I’m doing much better now that those bad teeth are gone! However, I do have one quirk about me that you’ll notice when you meet me, I have a wobbly head. They say it’s a neurological thing. Please come by and meet me! I’d like to show you how sweet I am and I’d love to talk to you. So be ready to chat with me and give me chin rubs!"
Big Boy
"They don’t call me Big Boy for no reason! I have a big body with a big heart! I am a charming boy who just wants attention and TREATS! Yum! I’ll be ready to sit for a tasty treat and even shake your hand. I love food so much that I would prefer to be left alone with my food as I chow down on it. I do not share with anyone! I enjoy being around people but I prefer to go to a home with no children. I need someone strong enough to handle my strength on the leash because sometimes I forget how strong I can be. Come by and meet me! I’ll be ready to lean on you and love you! And I hope that you’ll love me right back. I can’t wait to meet you!"
"Hello, I’m Tetris! My early life was a bit puzzling. Being an outdoor cat was not an easy life. Just like the game of Teris, I had to keep moving around to different places and I was always trying to find the right spot to call home. That kind of life made me a little timid and I’d like to put that puzzling life behind me! I’m ready to settle down and find that forever home where I can relax with my human and not worry anymore. Everyone says that I’m a handsome and sweet boy. How about you give me a chance to show you? Let’s find out if we’re a purrfect fit!"
