The Animal Defense League of Texas, a no-kill shelter here in San Antonio, has several dogs that are looking for a forever home. Check out the dogs currently available and just try saying no to adopting one of these cuties. It's basically impossible. All photos from the Animal Defense League of Texas.

"I’m going to wiggle it out when I meet you. I’m so happy that my body can’t stop wiggling and my tail can’t stop wagging. I really enjoy meeting new people. I just burst with enthusiasm. I’ll make my new family so happy because I’m just so joyful. I’m warning you that my enthusiasm is contagious. Oops, too late, I already infected you. Now the only cure is to come take me home today!"
"Giddy-up, Rawhide and strap in for a wild ride! I have so much energy built up in me that I go a little crazy when I get out of my kennel. I jump as high as high as my leash will let me, run as fast as you let me and just cause some mayhem. All in good fun, of course! One thing for sure you’ll never get bored when you’re with me. So if you feel like your life has been a little dull and you’re looking for some adventure then come let me brighten your world today!"
"I may not be a famous chemist who devised the periodic table but I’m pretty special. I’m a Hurricane Harvey dog. That means that the Animal Defense League traveled to the shelter I was in looking for a home before the storm and brought me back to find a home in San Antonio. I’ve got to say I feel like an SA dog and now I just need my forever home to come find me!"
"As the great Hercules once said, 'a true Hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart.' I must admit, in this big 64 lb. body of mine is a big heart! And let me tell you how I saved a Hurricane Harvey pet. I was already in a shelter in Rosenberg looking for a home before Harvey came through. Rosenberg was hit pretty hard by Harvey. After the hurricane, ADL worked with the shelter I was at and brought me, along with many other pets, to San Antonio. The plan was for us pets to clear up spots for pets displaced by Harvey. I’m happy that I could open a spot for another pet in need. I’m a very active and playful guy! I enjoy going out for walks and running around being my playful and goofy self. Now I hope that I can continue to spread my joy and affection. I’m ready to be a heroic furry friend to a family of my own."
"As you can see, I had an eye removed. It wasn’t doing me any good anyway, since I couldn’t see out of it, so I don’t mind. I’m a happy-go-lucky kind of guy, always ready to play. I love toys and treats and would love an active family that likes to keep busy. I’m smart too – I can sit, shake and fetch on command, especially if I know there’s a treat waiting for me. If you love to play as much as I do, please come see me – I’ll be right here waiting and wagging!"
"You can’t tell by this handsome face but I have something in common with 90 million Americans. I have heart disease. Mine was caused by heartworms that I’ve undergone treatment for. Please don’t let that scare you because I’m a friendly boy and oh so cute! I deserve a second chase in a forever home, don’t you agree?"
"James is a royal name and being a mastiff means I come from royal blood. I’m very stoic and kingly unless you show me a treat. I love treats so much I unleash my goofy side to get you to give them to me. I’m possessive of my food and will guard it so it’s best I go home with a family with children 12 year and up. So if you’re looking for a king who can get down and be goofy then look no further than me!"
"When you come to my kennel, I’ll happily run to the door and greet you with wags and enthusiasm, overflowing with happiness and friendliness. But when staff takes me out to meet you, you’ll hardly recognize the shy, reluctant dog at the end of the leash. I don’t remember what happened before I came here, but I’m just so scared that it takes a long time for me to trust people. I don’t have an ounce of meanness in me – I just need someone with patience to wait for me to be ready to share my love. When that time comes, I enjoy cuddling and I’m as sweet as can be. If you have the time, the rewards are great – I promise!"
"I need you today. Please come and give, without taking. I’m looking for my Manilow to write songs about me and love me! I am a little shy, but a kind, patient person could really bring me out of my shell. If you want someone to sing love songs to, I’m the perfect dog for you!"
"Hi, I’m Denise! My ears are so big they didn’t even fit in the photo! I’m an energetic young gal and I’m ready to go on adventures! I get along with all people and dogs too. I like to go for walks and check out everything around me. I’m ready to find that person who’ll love me forever. Do you think you can be that person?"

I have a pretty unique look to me and I’m a sociable fella. In fact, I really like other dogs even if they don’t want anything to do with me! For that reason, I’d like to meet any potential fur-siblings to see how well we get along. I have tons of energy and I love to play but I also have a lover boy side where I’ll melt your heart cuddling. My cuddling can sometimes involve me resting my entire 50 pound body in your lap. I’m a well-rounded dog ready for my forever home especially if it has other dogs in it but no cats please!
Miss Piggy
"They call me Miss Piggy! My nose is snout-like as the real Miss Piggy. However, I don’t necessarily have the diva attitude as she does but what I do have is energy! And lots of it! I can be a bit of a trickster too, I’ll sit quietly in my kennel and look at you calmly with my sweet loving eyes. But after you take me out, I might confuse you for Kermit the frog and become a wild child! I love people, I like romping around, and I enjoy the outdoors. I’m a big goofball and am looking for the right person who will love me for the lovable wild child I am!"
"I always get so excited when people walk up to my kennel! I’ll look you right in the eyes and yell, 'Pick me!' I enjoy crawling into laps, being toted around like a prince, and being held close. I do have a back problem, so I am looking for a calm home where I can be treated with gentle care. Visit me today! I just might be the perfect little furry friend for you!"
"Hi, I’m Bruiser! I enjoy going for walks and exploring the outdoors. I’ve recently learned that I also enjoy riding in cars too. I’ve been told that I’m sweet, and I’m sure you’ll agree after you meet me. I’m the type of dog that’ll lean on you and give you kisses on your cheek!"
"A born leader I set the standard for American Stafford Terriers. I’m fun, friendly and well-behaved. I even sit for treats and I love attention. The only invading being done around here is me into your heart and I won’t surrender until you come get me!"
"I’m bright-eyed and bushy-tailed! Always ready to socialize with people and have a ball! I’m also very affectionate and like cuddle time. I also get along with dogs, cats, and kids too! Will you give me the chance to be your furry companion?"
"If you’re old enough to remember Casper the Friendly Ghost, you might be tempted to call me that, because, well, I’m Casper and I’m very friendly. But I’m definitely not a ghost! I may be the happiest dog you’ve ever seen, making people smile everywhere I go with my joy for life. You would never know I have problems, but I just don’t let them bother me. I have had some seizures, but now I’m on medication that the vet hopes will stop them. Since I just got here and started it, it’s too early to tell. Also, I showed up with a hip injury that required surgery, and it is healing well and should be fine."
"I don’t want to hear no Lip about it, but I’m the best dog here! I’m one cool dude. Before I came to the Animal Defense League I injured my leg and I have a fracture that is healing well. I’ve got a lot to offer someone so you should come get me today before someone else does."
"Hi there! I am Sweetie and just like my name I am super sweet! I am a rambunctious young lady with lots of love to give. I am looking for a person who will enjoy having silly me in their life and be willing to take me on adventures. I am the type of dog that’ll keep you on your toes and love you too! I am currently working on my leash walking skills and I’m sure with consistent practice this is something I could learn to master. Before I join your family, I would like to meet any possible fur-siblings to see how well we get along. And by fur-siblings, I mean either dog brothers or sisters. No cat siblings, please! Now what do you think about giving me a chance to be your furry best friend? Come by and meet me soon!"
"I’m a very active boy and you won’t see me stay still for long. I like playing, and I enjoy dogs and kids over 12. I do have a problem with a disc in my back and that means I shouldn’t play rough or jump from high surfaces. But so far I haven’t had any trouble, and I plan to keep it that way. I would love to go home with you and be spoiled and loved."
