- Ranger is one of three SA-native dogs to participate in this year's Puppy Bowl.
Three San Antonio-native pups rescued by Alamo Rescue Friends and the Humane Society of Greater Nashua, will participate in the Puppy Bowl, Animal Planet’s annual rope toy and accidental urination jubilee that airs concurrently with the Super Bowl.
The dogs include Ranger, a 16-week-old Springer Spaniel, Tate, a 14-week-old Beagle and Timber, a 14-week-old Labrador Retriever. They’ll join 46 other dogs, all under 20 weeks old, for Puppy Bowl XII.
This is the twelfth edition of the Puppy Bowl. For the uninitiated, the annual show features dozens of puppies from shelters frolicking in a mock football stadium for two hours. It’s exactly what you’d expect: Penalties are called for unnecessary “ruff-ness,” there’s a kitty halftime show, and one of the dogs is named MVP at the end of the night. Over 2.7 million people watched last year’s show.
Puppy Bowl XII will air Sunday, February 7 on the Animal Planet at 2 p.m. Check out the game’s full lineup here.
