The San Fernando Cathedral in downtown San Antonio is the oldest operating Catholic sanctuary in the United States. Nestled in Main Plaza, the church blossoms into a remarkable and colorful infusion of old and new worlds. Every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at 9, 9:30 and 10, San Antonio|The Saga, a 24-minute video, splashes across the church's facade. French artist Xavier De Richemont's saga tells the story of discovery, settlement and development of San Antonio. If you're downtown for dinner and drinks — or even business — take a few minutes and soak in some vibrant, artful history shown at this anchor of Alamo City history. 115 Main Plaza, (210) 227-1297, mainplaza.org
