A pilot died yesterday after an Air Force aircraft, a T-38 Talon, crashed in Del Rio, Texas along the Texas-Mexico border, according to Laughlin Air Force Base. Another Air Force pilot injured in the crash has been transferred to Val Verde Regional Medical Center.

A board of Laughlin Air Force officers, who have confirmed that the aircraft was assigned to their base, will investigate the incident. The names of the pilots involved are still being withheld until next of kin is notified.

“We are a close knit family, and when a tragedy like this occurs every member of the U.S. Armed Forces feels it," said Col. Michelle Pryor, 47th Flying Training Wing vice commander in a press release.
