As of Thursday afternoon, Airbnb has activated its Disaster Rental Program, offering free housing accommodations for displaced residents and relief workers seeking shelter from Hurricane Harvey.

The program, which pairs evacuees with Airbnb hosts in San Antonio, Dallas and Austin, is free of charge for those seeking temporary housing through Sept. 1. People who are evacuating the coastal areas can search for free rentals at airbnb.com, and those with rooms or homes to offer are encouraged to do so.

"During an emergency, Airbnb may email local hosts with information about how to help and how to offer their extra space to affected community members," reads a statement on the home-rental's site. "These hosts are still covered by the Host Guarantee, and Airbnb’s fees are waived."
