This week’s column, like a good dual-identity superhero, takes the form of dish and disclosure. Shane Bruns, late of Oro at the Emily Morgan hotel, has left that downtown landmark to work with Dan Ward of Piatti — and soon Luca and Tresca — fame. Bruns will serve as Piatti’s executive chef, says Ward, with oversight of Tresca and “any other projects that we develop.”
“We” includes his business partner, District 1 Zoning Commissioner Michael Westheimer, aka Mr. Elaine Wolff (but only when he’s in trouble). So this will be more or less the last you’ll hear from me about Luca — which is set to serve contemporary regional Italian beginning in late March in the Fairmont Hotel’s completely updated bar and restaurant space — and Tresca, in the Plaza at Concord Park, which is being designed by architect (and Silo 1604 mastermind) Davis Sprinkle.
