Locavores, rejoice! Just as A-B foretold, a free Main Plaza tri-county farmers market has been born in the city of Antonio, and you can make your first pilgrimage to the site this Friday, June 13. (And return every Friday henceforth, from
8 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
But! The inaugural event will extend into the Main Plaza’s High Noon Series featuring Jacinto y Ray Conjunto, jelling into a true celebration of cuisine and community. A-B’s got goose bumps.
What offerings can you expect to find on these hallowed grounds? According to Go Texan’s San Antonio Coordinator for Regional Marketing Programs Robert Maggiani, tomatoes will exude their crimson glow, along with other fruits, and nuts. (We’ve heard on high that those heavenly Hill Country peaches may appear, but the star(fruit) charts have been misread before.)
Also look forward to Texas wine tastings and demonstrations by local chefs each Friday. Those readers who work for a living (and lack hired help) may have to abstain from the former — or plan a “sick day” — because we’re sure you’ll be hitting up the market in the early-morning hours or at lunch.
