Memories get stacked and spliced in two partnering exhibitions opening at UTSA Satellite Space this week. The daily rituals of H. Jennings Sheffield ? a self-described artist, student, mother, and wife ? find a conceptual platform in “Tethered,” a project that compresses three months of life via reconstructed photographs and a video installation. By digitally merging slices of photographs captured at the same time on different days, Sheffield creates a “singular life experience” executed with mathematical precision. Similarly, Gissette Padilla’s “In All that I Remember” is “built from the fragments of personal photographs,” but employs painting, drawing, and printmaking as tools to address the “construction and crumbling of memory.” Free, 6-9pm Thu, May 5; 6-9pm Fri, May 6; UTSA Satellite Space, 115 Blue Star, (210) 212-7146, art.utsa.edu/galleries/satellite-space. Through May 22.
