If you haven’t heard about Art House, don’t feel bad, it took our very own production designer Tiffany to alert us to its “massive, nationwide art projects.” Art House currently has four activities anyone can participate in (for a reasonable fee of $10-13), from collecting objects to the sketchbook project. Sign up today at arthousecoop.com/project/list.
We recommend the sketchbook assignment, in which hundreds of sketchbooks are sent to participants around the country — fill ’em up, send ’em back, and, BAM!, your work’s in the Art House gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. Pretty cool, right? So, what are you waiting for? Go sign up; there are only 500 spots available and at press time 350 were left.
Too lazy to create art? Look no further than the Art Student League at Our Lady of the Lake University’s (disclosure: I’m an OLLU alumna) Leap Year Art Jam/Silent Auction, featuring the work of James Cobb and Mark Aguilar, with music by native El Pasoans `+--oo`, Rootbug, and SuperRoot, to name a few. The event goes down on Friday from 3-8 p.m. in the campus’s mall area.
Added bonus: Interactive community art will also be on hand, so don’t say we didn’t warn you when you’re covered in chalk at the end of the night.
