Critic's Pick Release Date: 2011-02-16

What began in 1498 as part of Emperor Maximilian I’s Viennese Court is now divided into four unique touring choirs named after famous Austrian composers (Bruckner, Haydn, Mozart, and Schubert). Made up of approximately 100 singers between the ages of 10 and 14, the Vienna Boys Choir performs 300 annual concerts for nearly half a million listeners worldwide. While staying true to its original purpose (providing music for Sunday Mass in Vienna’s Imperial Chapel), the choir also finds time to record albums (such as 2002’s Vienna Boys Choir Goes Pop, which includes hits by Madonna, the Bangles, and Talking Heads), contribute to movie soundtracks, and create world music inspired by international tours. $15-$60, 7:30pm, Lila Cockrell Theatre, 200 E Market, (210) 226-2891,
