Augie Meyers: 'Loves Lost and Found'

“No matter where I’ve ever been, my heart has always been in the country,” wrote Augie Meyers on the inside cover of his latest CD, Loves Lost and Found. More than in any previous work, the keyboardist for Sir Douglas Quintet and Texas Tornados goes all out with a straight-ahead country album that’s also his strongest solo material in years. Except for tasteful renditions of Doug Sahm’s “Be Real” and Lefty Frizzell’s “I Love You a Thousand Ways,” this is all original Augie, getting serious, for a change, and rocking without his usual comedy element thrown into the mix. A CD release party is in order. Fast.
