Based on the saucy 1907 novel Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal by British writer Roy Horniman, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, which won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2014, is a musical comedy by Robert L. Freedman (with music and additional lyrics by Steven Lutvak).

This sophisticated yet bawdy tale of bloodlines and bloodletting follows Monty Navarro in his hilarious and sordid quest for an inheritance to which he has a distant claim. All that stands in his way are the eight relatives in front of him in line to inherit the fortune. With murder on his mind, and still making time for a good old-fashioned love triangle, Navarro sets about offing his kinfolk and evading the authorities, all with the manners of a true gentleman.
