That Ben Folds is just so zany. The veteran indie piano-pop dude, best known for his 1990s hit “Brick,” from his Ben Fold’s Five project, has always preferred his new-school Billy Joel vibes with a little bit of college radio irreverence. For example: On his current tour, which brings him through Saytown this weekend, Folds is taking song requests live via paper airplane. Yeah, that’s right. All you have to do to hear your favorite jam, from any era of Fold’s nearly 30-year career, is write it on a piece of paper, sail it to the stage in the form of a paper airplane, and hope he chooses yours from the pile. While many may focus on requests from his back catalog, Folds has recently released some stellar music with the sextet chamber ensemble yMusic. Regardless, the format of the show should make for a fun evening to say the least.
