WINNER: King William Manor Historic Inn
1029 S. Alamo St. • (210) 222-0144
You don't have to drive out to the Hill Country to find excellent bed and breakfast inns, as 2016's winner King William Manor Historic Inn illustrates. The Greek revival mansion, built in 1892, also won Best of San Antonio in 2014. The land it sits on was farmland to sustain the inhabitants of the Mission San Antonio de Valero (the Alamo), but in the 19th century, Germans founded what's now known as the King William Historic District. The inn features nine themed bedrooms that are sure to soothe the nerves. Before becoming a bed and breakfast, the King William Manor operated as a private residence, a bookstore, apartments and a theater. There's also a two-bedroom vacation rental on the property, which sits in the heart of the bustling arts and nightlife district just south of Downtown.
