Texas' beloved Big Bend National Park is burning.
The National Park Service reports on its Facebook page that a "wildland" fire started around a place called Panther Junction at 5 p.m. yesterday, most likely from a power pole downed by 30mph-plus wind gusts causing sparks.
"Due to continued high winds and hot/dry conditions, the fire spread very quickly east and north of Panther Junction, beyond the KBar backcountry campsites," the National Park Service reported. "National park Service wildland and structural fire crews were on scene very quickly; Terlingua volunteer fire crews have joined the effort as well."
As of this morning, the fire has moved east in the park.
