The Watels are having you over for lunch.
After serving their last buttery plate of escargot over Father's Day weekend, the Bistro Vatel staff won't be out of commission for much longer. Legal issues between the landlord and tenants forced the French restaurant to leave its home of nearly 18 years. But starting today, chef Damian Watel's fans can find him and his staff at Bite, the restaurant helmed by wife, chef Lisa Watel.
The menu, available Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature favorites from Chez Vatel Bistro from the lunch and dinner menu at the former location. Diners can expect to find watercress and bacon salad with parsley, country pâté, beef and goat cheese gateau, moules et frites, seared foie gras, octopus carpaccio and cornichon potato salad, seared tuna Nicoise, beef tenderloin churrasco et frites, grilled snapper with basil butter,
lamb curry and couscous, grilled salmon beurre rouge and the Bite burger et frites. Prices vary from $11 to $24.
The search for a new location is still on for Watel and co., but in the meantime, food lovers should make it a point to stop by lunch service. Though on the pricy side, favorites from the old menu such as the can't-miss lamb curry with couscous are not to be missed.
