Black Bodies and the Justice of God

When: Thu., Jan. 18, 5 p.m. 2018

This reading and book club series launch will explore the religious, spiritual and moral implications of what Rev. Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas refers to as “the sin of racism.” A reading from Dr. Douglas’ book Stand Your Ground: Black Bodies and the Justice of God will examine the killing of young black men, not only from the lens of a renowned scholar of “womanist theology” but from that of a mother of a black adolescent son. This personal account at the intersections of Theology, Black Lives Matter, and Motherhood allows for a more personal conversation of one of the most critical moral and ethical issues of our time.
