Blue Star silent auction for a not-so-silent arts community

Forget, for a moment, the gorgeous models in front of you dressed in Neiman Marcus’ fall collection. Mannequin-art by nine local artists is also on display at  "Models and Mannequins: a Passion for Fashion," the SA edition of the 3rd Annual Fashion's Night Out, going down tonight Sept. 8 at The Shops at La Cantera.

From mosaic art to nature-influenced bodies, and then some abstract color changing video to parallel your mood, this show offers a lot of dazzle as the artists deliver what they see when they look at a naked mannequin.

Begun in 2009 as an international initiative to celebrate fashion and restore consumer confidence, the San Anto version of Fashion’s Night Out  also helps support Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, which will receive all proceeds from the silent (mannequin) art auction and a percentage of the night’s fashion sales receipts.

If you spend $150 or more tonight, you’ll get $20 back in your pocket (or purse), and Blue Star will receive a $10 donation.

$40 admission, 6-9pm, 15900 La Cantera Parkway, (210) 227-6960, -Andi Garza
