Boogarins, The Halfways, The Sun Machine & ACID Light Show

When: Fri., July 15, 9 p.m.-12 a.m. 2016

"Boogarins, a band from Goiânia, Brazil, with members barely into their 20s, is working an indirect angle on an old and grandiose idea. They’re making psychedelic pop, with steady and even drum grooves, guitars playing melodic repetitions through clouds of reverb, and hazy, slow-release, enlightened-sounding vocals. There is a Brazilian psychedelic-rock tradition, for sure. But Boogarins doesn’t sound beholden to the documents of it. It’s not a band of formalists doing homage work. What it played on Friday night at Baby’s All Right in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, took a general essence and redirected it without anxiety." -NYT Review
