Caliente Hot Glass Studio Doubled The Size Of Its Operation

A local glass-blowing outfit is inviting the public to an open house celebrating an expansion that doubles the size of its studio.

The San Antonio Current featured Caliente Hot Glass Studio in October 2014 when we explored the city's art glass scene.

The studio (1411 North Hackberry) creates custom glass art, sculpture and functional pieces. Caliente Hot Glass Studio describes its sell as an "offhand glassblowing studio in San Antonio where artists have the freedom to create and the community as well as companies and individuals can observe and participate in this ancient art through classes, demos, and private events."

The open house is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 13 during the second SundayFunday of the month.

There will be live glass blowing demos, question-and-answer sessions, refreshment and art pieces available for purchase or viewing pleasure in the newly opened gallery.

"We invite people to Caliente for a specialized art experience where they can play with the artists, and help make something with their own hands," Ruth Bushman, creative development director, says in a press release. "People are having some amazing, interactive experiences. It's been a lot of fun for us!"
