Two fine touring bands with divergent sounds but overlapping punk starting points will land at Limelight early next week.

At the top of the bill, Chicago Celtic-punk stalwarts Flatfoot 56 have been making a rowdy and rebellious (and decidedly Irish) brand of punk music, which has endeared them mightily to fans of acts like Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly since 2000.

Meanwhile, providing solid touring support, Albuquerque’s Russian Girlfriends describes its own music, which incorporates elements of Bay Area metal and punk, as “aggressive adult contemporary.” And while that descriptor might call to mind images of Michael Bolton in KISS makeup, we can assure you that it’s better than it sounds.

$10, Tue Sept 18, 8pm, Limelight, 2718 N. St. Mary’s St., ticketfly.com.
