Believe it or not, I’m not really much of a product person. With clothes, what you see is pretty much what you get. Blouses don’t come with “10-percent thinner arms” promised on the sleeve. But I’ve found skin, hair, and face-care products very rarely live up to their claims, and out of a desperate need to hold on to my money and not be disappointed, I admit my bathroom and my makeup bag are pretty conservative. I’ll find one moisturizer or bit of makeup that’s not a total disaster, and remain loyal to it forever.
Luckily, every once in a while a trusted friend takes the plunge for me and tries something new. I am way too clumsy to do my own nails, and never even manage to make it out of the nail salon with all 10 fingers in order, so pedicure season can be stressful. Enter Revlon’s new ColorStay nail polish, which comes with a special bonding agent that guarantees a chip-free, smudge-free shine for 10 days. “Honestly,” my trusted friend swore, “two coats of color, which dries super-quickly, then a coat of the sealing shine. I went straight into the shower, then got out and did my hair — not a single smudge.” Dear readers, I tried it this weekend. You’ll be seeing me in Revlon ColorStay’s “Always Sheer Camisole” (a soft, classic, pale pinky-peach) for way, way too long.
