Houston Street Charities, the nonprofit behind the San Antonio Cocktail Conference, released the name of the eight finalists for this year's original cocktail competition.

In order to streamline the competition, which will take place Sunday, January 18 at 4 p.m. inside the Aztec Theatre, blind entries were winnowed down to eight by judges. This year's participants Carl Biddle, Bradley Bowden (Parliament), Daniel Guillen out of Dallas; Leslie Ross (Treadsack) of Houston; Scott Stierwalt (Ox Lot 9) of Covington, Louisiana; Clement Mocanu of Austin; with Blanca Angel Cantu and Timothy Bryand (NAO) of SA rounding out the participants.

Cocktail recipes, themed Spirit of San Antonio, were due this past December and had to use spirits in the William Grant & Sons portfolio. First prize will earn $2,000, with second place taking home $1,000. Tickets for the event, $40 gets you into the competition and conference closing party, are still available at
