When: Fri., Oct. 28, 6:30-8 p.m. 2016
The Art Department of Northwest Vista College and the NVC Friends of the Arts are pleased to announce an exhibition of contemporary African Art that opens October 21st in the Palmetto Center for the Arts. The exhibition is entitled "Convergences." The opening reception will be held October 28 from 6:30-8pm. The work of Kenyan artist, Naomi Wanjiku Gakunga will be paired with the work of Nigerian artist, Tunde Odunlade to provide a glimpse of the convergences of Eastern and Western African art. Both artists are internationally known and create works that are very contemporary. African art looks modern because many of the modern artists of Europe such as Picasso found inspiration in traditional African art.
