Huzzah for the future availability of affordable produce on the East Side — Dignowity Hill Farmer's Market will kick off March 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Founder Michelle Griego, who gathered signatures and support through Green Spaces Alliance of South Texas and District 2 City Councilman Alan E. Warrick, received approval via the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department to use Dignowity Park for the market through November. Going forward, the market will be held every second and fourth Sunday of the month.

Griego iss still on the search for more vendors to add to the lineup, which will max out at five for the time being.

“I want to get a hold of the produce and focus on food choices before we grow,” Griego says. Farmers or ranchers, who will have to accept SNAP, WIC and EBT cards as per the market’s mission, can email for details.
