comment

We stumbled upon DJ Josh Stone during “Deluxe Fridays,” a weekly dance party he throws at Alibi’s (1141 E Commerce).

CD, vinyl, or mp3? All vinyl.

Where and how do you buy music? Everywhere and anywhere. Dave at Hogwild helps me out a lot.

Favorite artist right now: Two Door Cinema Club.

Artist to play when you want people to leave a party: Ladyhawke or M83.

When you’re not spinning, you … Paint, skateboard, take care of my 11-year-old son, and deal with my old lady.

Do you dance? Yes.

Favorite thing about Alibi’s: After almost seven years here, they don’t fuck with me about what to play.

Do people dance as much as they did seven years ago? No.

Halloween plans? “Corpse Grinders” party at Web House with DJs Fuji & Paz Joaquin ? “spooky spirits and horrifying sounds” (free, 10pm Sat, Oct 30, Web House, 517 E Woodlawn).

Favorite local DJ to collaborate with: Paz Joaquin. In January, he and Erik Gallemore and I are releasing a CD called LORD (Legends of Rare Disco), with remixes by DJs JJ Lopez, Chacho, Exceed, and Fuji.

Where’s the release party? At Glo 6 in Denver (Jan. 22), then Texas in February.

What’s the best way to describe what you spin? Anything new, but dance music is the best.

How do you feel about Tejano music? I’m from California, but having lived here so long, I like it. It goes good with BBQ.

Do you ever spin it? Occasionally, I’ll drop a track on a Monday night. Not all the time. But I’ll jam it. You can’t listen to dance music all day ? you’ll go crazy.
