If you’re unfamiliar with the genre of drum & bass, also known as simply D&B or DnB, it’s basically a branch of electronic music that emerged from the rave scenes in England during the early ’90s. With track tempos ranging from 160-180 beats per minute (most hip-hop songs you hear on the radio are 80-100bpm to give you a gauge for how fast these beats are), the genre crossed the Atlantic, and if you were around to go to raves during the early ’90s, there’s a good chance you dropped some X and liquid-danced to drum-n-bass, dude. Though this isn’t as popular as it was back in the day, there are artists like my personal favorite Spor and Noisia (who have remixed for electronic artists like The Prodigy) who keep the genre alive in the underground corridors where raves are birthed in secret. Random Movement is another one of these artists keeping the genre alive, and since we really don’t get a whole lot of electronic artists of this caliber rolling through the Alamo City, this is pretty much the club music event you want to be at this week.
