Drag Queen

1. Tencha La Jefa

There's no preparing for the spectacle that is Tencha la Jefa. Your eyes try simultaneously to take in the hair curlers, blacked out teeth and body-ody-ody. She's one of the area's most popular camp queens, and her comedic style of drag is one of a kind. What started out as a dare over 13 years ago has become a successful career, and Tencha is a fixture in the local drag scene. You can catch her at Heat Nightclub as part of the Rey Lopez Entertainment Presents series next to the stars of RuPaul's Drag Race and at the weekly "Drag Me to Fame" amateur drag competition there. On Mondays, she hosts a Drag Race viewing party at Luther's. Tencha dedicates this win to her sister Maria, who recently lost her battle with kidney disease.
