  • Facebook / Pantera
Vinnie Paul, co-founder one of the most legendary metal acts of all time, Pantera, has died according to Billboard.

It was also confirmed on Pantera's Facebook page:

Paul and his brother Dimebag Darrell, formed Pantera in 1981, blew up with their second lead singer, Phil Anselmo, and secured four Grammy nominations and charted nine albums on the Billboard 200, including their 1994 record Far Beyond Driven, which debuted at No. 1 on the chart.

If you followed Pantera, you’d know that in 2003 the Abbott brothers formed Damage Plan and the following year Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed on stage during a Columbus, Ohio concert.

Born in Abilene Texas, Paul currently drummed for the supergroup Hellyeah, which included Mudvayne vocalist Chad Gray and Nothingface guitarist Tom Maxwell.

According to Billboard, Paul’s representative no further details are available surrounding his death.

May both brothers rest in peace.
